On this page you will discover things like the coelocanth -extinct for 60 million years-FOUND ALIVE  & FLOURISHING IN VOLCANOES LONG DORMANT & FILLED WITH WATER! (see pic in banner of this incredible fish)

In 1993 a team of UN observers,US troops,Uk scientists were allowed a 5 month visa to trek into cambodia, with free reign on where they wanted to go.This had nothing to do with prisoners of war,it was a field study into the plant & animal life that hadnt been documented.During the search they discovered something amazing-the troops were there as part of a mine destruction team, clearing the mines that had been left in the jungle/general area during the conflict. Now & then youd come accross a hog,or other animal that had had an unfortunate encounter with a mine.Except for 1-A tiny deer, about the size of a domestic cat-WITH GILLS! The Gu Kwong Ox is so tiny & dainty it doesnt trigger the mines! It has survived an ice age-2 world wars plus the conflict in cambodia. An incredible animal, the gills are a total mystery.Trying to snag some pics from the sightings video as the animal is very hard to see in the jungle & dna was gathered but the story ends there......

The Loch Ness Monster

The Great Glen in the Scottish highlands is a rift valley 60 miles long and contains three famous lochs, Lochy, Oich and Ness. The most famous of these is Loch Ness because of the monster said to 'lurk' in its deep waters.  It is deeper than the North Sea and is very long and very, very narrow and has never been known to freeze.

Sightings of the monster, affectionately known as 'Nessie' are legion.

The first recorded account is of an eyeball to eyeball confrontation with the Irish saint, St. Columba in the 6th century.  St. Columba, so the story goes, ordered one of his monks to swim across the loch and fetch a boat.,  Halfway across the monster appeared and rushed at the swimmer, roaring in a most frightening way!  Columba cried out at the monster," Go no further, nor touch the man! Go back! ".  The monster it is said, fled!

Photo taken by London surgeon published in the Daily MailSince then, Nessie has been seen many times but has never harmed anyone.  Sightings have been sporadic over the centuries, but in the 20th century Nessie has been more active, which has had a profound affect on local business!

1933 was the year when the first photograph was taken of the monster, or what could be the monster.  It showed something with a long neck arched  over a thick body. This photograph, taken by a London surgeon caused a sensation when first published in the Daily Mail.

In 1951, Lachlan Stuart, a forestry worker who lived beside the loch, also managed to photograph the monster, if that is indeed what it was.  He saw three humps  in the water appear in line and ran back to his house to get his camera.  After taking one photograph his camera shutter jammed, but his photograph got wide publicity as further proof of the existence of Nessie.

Interest in Nessie became intense and over the years several scientific investigations have taken place.  In 1961 the Loch Ness Phenomena Investigation Bureau was formed and even two submarines have been brought into the search with sonar experts on board!  When the submarine Pisces was diving off Castle Urquhart, where the water is 950 feet deep, a vast underwater cavern was found.  Was this Nessie's home?

The circus owner Bertram Mills offered a £20,000 reward to anyone who could capture the monster for his circus, but so far no one has claimed the reward.

Loch Ness

In 1975 four firemen from Hemel Hempstead decided that the monster must be a male, as all monsters usually are, so they built a 309 foot long papier-mâché 'lady monster' to attract 'Mr. Nessie'.

It had false eyelashes, full make-up and gave out a pre-recorded mating call.  Unfortunately the mating call turned out to be that of a male walrus, so not unsurprisingly it didn't tempt Nessie!

It didn't help either when the lady monster got damaged when being put into the water.  Her 'behind' was flattened by the jetty when a sudden wind blew her sideways.  The attempt was abandoned.

The Loch Ness monster is not unique it seems - reports of similar creatures have come from other lochs in the West Highlands.

Nessie provides us with an enduring mystery and in the 21st century where there is an explanation for everything, it is pleasing to think that there are still mysteries like the Loch Ness Monster.

Indeed the most recent 'sighting' was in May 2007, when Gordon Holmes, a lab technician, took a video of what he described as 'this jet black thing, about 45 feet long, moving fairly fast in the water'. The video was broadcast by BBC Scotland and on STV's North Tonight programme. The credibility of the video has however come into question; amongst other concerns, the video does not include any objects or features by which the size of the 'thing' can be measured.

It appears that the existence of 'Nessie' remains to be proved.

Lake Champlain, is a lake that is 109 miles long on the boarders of New York and Vermont. A French explorer by the name of Samuel De Champlain has been given the distinction of being the first individual to see the North American lake monster in Lake Champlain. This is reported to have develop in the year 1609, but this may not have been the first sighting of the lake monster that
has come to be known as CHAMP.

A journalist in the 1960’s found that the sighting may not have been in the lake at all ,that it is more likely that the first sighting of the lake monster was off the coast of the St. Lawrence estuary.  In all likelihood the first sighting of the lake monster in the lake itself, took place at Port Henry, New York in 1819 by settlers in the territory. It was again noted at an locus that became known as Dresden, New York in the first part of the seventeenth century. The sightings continued and in 1883, the Sheriff of Clinton County Nathan Mooney delineated witnessing a “ an enormous snake or water serpent 25 to 30 feet  in length”. In 1899 a group of men fishing saw something slightly leave the water and move up the shore line.

Sandra Mansi, was vacationing in Vermont not far from the Canadian Boarder. When the lake monster made its presence known to Mrs. Mansi & her husband. They had the presence of mind to get a camera and took a picture of Champ. The picture was analyzed and it was concluded that it was not a fallacy. From this picture it has been speculated that the lake monster may be a creature known
as a plesiosaur, which lived many centuries ago.

Lake Champlain would be ideal, It has depths of up to 400 feet and a outlet to the Atlantic ocean. The food is presence to support such a creature or creatures for centuries.  Lake Champlain also has a water temperatures that is ideal for the sanctuary of such a creature as well as underwater archeology sites

In recent years a smaller creature has been seen with the large one.  The research continues in  Lake Champlain and only time will give us the answers that we seek. This creature was photographed in Lake Champlain.

Could there be a family of these creatures in the lake reproducing and continuing their yet unknown species all these years It is assumed by many scholars that these mysterious creatures must reproduce in order to cover the time span of their sightings.  For example, Nessie has been seen by reliable witnesses for 100's of years.  We must assume, therefore, that there is a family of breeding creatures in the loch, and in Lake Champlain as well.  There have been 130 verified reports of sightings as of 1982.  You can get more info on Champ by simply using google
